Readings for the Faith Sharing
Week of May 3, 2009

Reading I Acts 4:8--12
Only in Jesus’ name are we to be saved

Psalm 118 “The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.”

Reading II 1 John 3:1-2
We are God’s children now.

Gospel John 10:11-18
The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

THEME:
JESUS IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD

In today’s scriptures, we are called “children of God” and the “sheep” of the Good Shepherd’s flock. Let us be attentive to God’s saving word. Through this living word, God seeks out those who are lost and offers shelter from the storms of sin and sadness.

Question for Children:
Jesus tells us he is the Good Shepherd, but how do you experience God guiding and protecting you?

Question for Youth:
How do you feel about Jesus’ being your shepherd? What does it mean to you that he lays down his life for you?

Question for Adults:
What qualities of God does the image of the Good Shepherd suggest? How do you experience God in this way?
