Some of the very good news there is about the large number of seminarians currently studying. To quote the latest blog entry:
When the average Catholic thinks of problems related to priestly vocations, most likely they envision aging priests and empty seminaries. In south Louisiana we have a different problem: where to put all the young men desiring to discern priesthood? Just two years ago (at the conclusion of the spring semester 2012) the student body at St. Joseph’s Seminary College in Covington numbered 80. Last fall enrollment increased to 106. And this fall the Benedict monks expect to welcome 120 young men into their program of priestly formation. This “problem” has required the renovation of a building (long ago designated for storage) into an new dormitory.Below is a photo of our seminarians taken at Our Lady of Oaks Retreat House in Grand Coteau:
